How to Hide YouTube End Screens in Chrome

Guide scope: SBlock YouTube 0.2.3 on supported YouTube video pages in desktop Chrome.

To hide supported YouTube end-screen suggestions in Chrome, open SBlock YouTube, review its Focus controls, and enable End-Screen Suggestions with Focus Mode active. Reload the video page and check the ending. If you only want to hide an end screen while watching one video, look for YouTube's own hide control first.

This guide uses the dedicated SBlock YouTube Chrome extension. Its official listing showed version 0.2.3 when checked. Regular SBlock is the separate product for other websites.

Identify what is covering the end of the video

YouTube's end-screen documentation describes interactive elements creators can add in the last 5 to 20 seconds. They can promote videos, playlists, subscriptions and other destinations. They are not automatically paid advertisements.

Before changing a setting, distinguish four things:

  • End-screen suggestions: clickable recommendation elements associated with the ending. SBlock YouTube documents a dedicated control for supported surfaces.
  • A recommendations panel: suggestions beside or below the player. Hiding one surface does not prove that another was changed.
  • Autoplay: another video starting after the current one. That is a playback choice, not just a visible card.
  • An edited-in outro: a title, logo or spoken message that is part of the uploaded video. Hiding an interactive suggestion is not the same as cutting that footage.

For example, a tutorial may still contain its closing explanation while clickable recommendations appear over the ending. Decide which part interrupts you rather than treating every closing graphic as an ad.

Try YouTube's native hide option for a single video

YouTube confirms that viewers can hide end screens. If your player offers a hide control when the elements appear, use it and check whether the ending is now clear enough. You may not need an additional setting for that viewing session.

Player layouts and the way end screens appear can vary. Do not assume a particular button position or that one action creates a permanent account-wide preference. If you want an extension-level choice for supported end-screen suggestions, continue with the Focus setting below.

Hide supported end-screen suggestions with SBlock YouTube

  1. Open the right environment. Use a normal YouTube video page in the desktop Chrome profile where SBlock YouTube is installed.
  2. Check access. Confirm the extension is enabled and permitted to work on youtube.com. Google's extension-management guide explains where to review access.
  3. Open the Focus controls. Review the existing selections before enabling Focus Mode, so you know which other page features will also be hidden.
  4. Enable End-Screen Suggestions. Use the setting for hiding that surface. Keep unrelated selections as you intend; there is no need to hide comments or Shorts just for this task.
  5. Reload and check. Return to the same video's ending and look for the supported suggestions you intended to hide.

The SBlock YouTube feature page lists End-Screen Suggestions among the available distraction controls. Labels can vary with language and version. This is a supported-surface feature, not a promise that every experimental player layout will behave identically.

For the wider set of controls, use our Focus Mode overview. This guide concerns the end of a video, not a full YouTube layout reset.

Keep autoplay and video content separate

If another video starts afterwards, review YouTube's native Autoplay setting. A hidden suggestion does not establish that playback continuation is off. Check the control itself instead of waiting for a thumbnail to disappear.

If a closing logo or a presenter asking you to subscribe remains inside the picture, it may be part of the video rather than an interactive end-screen element. This guide does not describe deleting a creator's footage or automatically skipping their outro.

AI Segmenter is still coming soon. Its planned outro and other segment controls are not the released feature used here. End-screen visibility, ad protection and future segment skipping are different jobs.

If only preview images are the problem, see the separate Clickbait Remover guide. Changing a thumbnail is also different from hiding an end-screen surface.

Restore suggestions or investigate an unchanged result

To restore supported end-screen suggestions, turn their hiding control off and reload the video page. Leave Focus Mode active if you still want its other selected features. Avoid resetting every preference to undo one choice.

If the ending looks unchanged, check the product, installed version, active Chrome profile, youtube.com access and saved Focus selection. Compare the same video and page layout before changing anything else. A remaining graphic may be embedded footage or a different recommendation surface.

If another extension changes the same player elements, isolate only that overlapping feature for a controlled comparison and restore its prior setting afterwards. Do not disable browser security, paste unknown scripts or clear all account history to remove one card.

For a persistent problem, use the SBlock issue reporter. Include SBlock YouTube's installed version, Chrome version, the public video URL, the chosen control and the timestamp where the element appears. Remove account names, private recommendations and other personal details from screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

Are YouTube end screens the same as ads?

No. They can be creator-added links or recommendations. Their presence alone does not prove that ad blocking failed, and hiding them does not prove that an advertisement was blocked.

Will this shorten the video or skip its outro?

That is not the purpose of this setting. It hides supported suggestion surfaces, rather than editing the uploaded video or using the planned AI Segmenter.

Does this guide apply to the native YouTube mobile or TV app?

No. These steps concern SBlock YouTube on supported pages in desktop Chrome. They do not describe controlling native phone, television or console applications.

Choose the surface you want to hide, verify the ending, and keep the change easy to reverse. Use the official SBlock YouTube listing for the current product and version.
